Marjorie Perrins was born in Pembroke Dock in 1920 Marriage At the age of 17 she eloped with a 27 year old soldier called Ivor Carswell,married in Birmingham at the age of 18. They were happily married for 57 years until Ivor's death in 1995,which considering their start was remarkable. Ivor was a none believer, Marjorie was a devout Catholic who attended church weekly Ivor enjoyed a drink, Marjorie was teetotal Ivor loved staying at home, Marjorie enjoyed socializing Ivor loved his garden,Marjorie could not tell a weed from a flower, but despite their differences or maybe because of their differences they were very much in love throughout their married life. Two weeks before she died when she was unable to talk and she conversed by handwritten notes she passed one to her son Tony that said "throughout their married life they never had an argument",so Tony reminded her of the time Ivor went shopping one Saturday morning and on his return found a note saying "your dinners in the oven I have gone to pontins for a week" and her next note was passed over which read "we never argued,he had calmed down by the time I got back " Family The marriage to Ivor resulted in ... Three children Six grandchildren Four great grandchildren One great great grandchild Lifestyle Marjorie lived a very christian life,always saw the good in everyone,was always positive,she did not possess a negative thought,never complained and she never said a bad word about anyone Working Marjorie despite not being a good cook worked in her early years in the army Naffie and on moving to Shrewsbury in 1954 worked in the canteen at Rolls Royce.In 1961 she left there and worked the next 20 years as dark room technician at the Shrewsbury hospital. Although she was always outgoing at the age of 49 she passed her driving test and then there was nothing stopping her! She was active in many parts of the local community Obviously in church activities WRVS Manning the nightshift at the samaritans Supporting a childrens dance troupe around the country Chairperson of Moston Road sheltered accommadation organising the bingo,social evenings and events Travel Marjorie loved travel and if born three generations later would have been off backpacking around the world.As it was she travelled on many holidays around the world.On one occasion she flew to Bahrain to visit Tony,she must have been 60 by then and travelling by herself on Iraqi airlines,she was stranded in Baghdad for 24 hours,which is not the best of places for a lone western female,but she loved the adventure Later life Over the last 12 months of her life she was courageous battling a horrible illness which she fully understood to be terminal but to reduce the anguish of those around her she pretended not to know the full extent of her illness and maintained her independenceto the end.She never complained and her only concern was being embarressed because she could not talk properly.She was asked at that time if she ever got depressed and she replied with one word written in capitals "NEVER" Marjorie has left a huge gap in the lives of her extended family and she is missed every day
